CONCLUSION

Many people wonder if paranormal activity really exists.  People have different beliefs about paranormal activity. Some people think that it’s true and that they have experienced it in their own life and talk about it, and there are some people that think that paranormal activity is just not real and that they exaggerate too much about it. The two films of paranormal activity show two innocents girl which is Kristie and Katie, and how they are being followed where ever they go by bad spirits and go through such horrifying things in their life that at the end the family pays the prices. I think paranormal activity got my attention because I wanted to see if it was real or not. I started reading people personal experience, and how their life was impacted by paranormal activity. I managed to watch some videos that show how ghosts appear or how things out of nowhere are being moved that left people speechless just by watching the video, and I manage to do background which in this case it was the two films of paranormal activity and describe the thing I saw in the film.  Watching the two films of paranormal activity, I believe that in life there’s always going to be good and bad spirits, and that there going to be souls that from some reason don’t rest because are looking for something they left behind or because they are looking to harm other people.  During my research and investigation of paranormal activity, I managed to see videos and read people's experiences; I can say that paranormal activity movie is somewhat comparable to a ghost haunting. Even though I was still wasn’t convinced, paranormal activity shows scenes that I believe are real and that bad spirits are something I will consider real in the film series, and I believe that good and bad does exists in life.



Paranormal Activity Evidence

Does paranormal activity really exist? Is there any kind of proof out there that would actually open people's eyes, and actually make them realize that paranormal activity really exists and that there are actually ghosts out there? Now that technology has grown, we have seen more and more proof that there’s actually paranormal activity out there, and now that we have the tape record that can actually record the voice of a ghost, and video cameras that capture the movement that goes around the place, there are some people that are convinced that paranormal activity really exists.  A team of TriCities.com the Bristol Herald Courier and News Channel 11 spend a night at a haunted place call The Tavern Abingdon. They tagged along with a group of paranormal investigators called the Haunt Masters Club that tries to film in spooky signings in the old storied building. After reviewing the video they capture several anomalous pieces of evidence indicating of paranormal behavior. The most stunning part of the video is where a chair moves in a completed empty room, and its captured by a video camera that is placed in the empty room, where you can actually see how the wooden chair scoots backward as if there is an in visible force pushing it. Capturing the movement of the chair there’s another video camera that captures an actual sound of a ghost muffled and three audio only records and unexplained EVP’S (Electronic Voice Phenomenon). All this evidence forms a defensive case for the many stories of The Tavern throughout the years. Collecting all the evidence is a not an easy a task, beginning from 10 pm at night with the last member leaving at 7:30am (TriCities).

                Another video shows how a family sets up a camera in their daughter's bedroom, and capture a paranormal activity or an evidence of a ghost after being told that there were unexplained noises and shadows in the room. When you watch the video you can actually see how the blankets on the side of the bed pulse up and down many times as if it was manipulated by a ghosts or a spirits. There’s a white mask on the table that falls to the side, it seems to remain suspended by an elastic string that prevents it from falling down (Examiner).

Personal Experience Stories

There are people out there that don’t really believe that paranormal activity exists, some question if there are spirits that are out there to harm people or they are there to send messages from beyond. Melanie Smith is one of the people that has experienced paranormal activity when she was 16 years old, and to this point she is still experiencing it. She stated that when she was 10 years old psychics and spirits always captured her attention. She would always watch shows and stories and wanted to experience it for herself. When she was 16 years old she experienced her first paranormal activity, and although the experience was memorable, nothing harmful or evil. She mentioned that she was home alone and felt that something was behind her and heard her deceased father call her name, she turned around and did not see anything. She believes that he contacted her in a dream because it was too specific not to be a message from him. A few months later she experienced another paranormal activity. One night she suddenly woke up and looked towards the door of her room and saw a little girl with short, black hair walk across her room. She turned her head and looked at her, paused and then she turned towards the wall and disappeared. Another recent experience she had was at her new job. She works at a local hospital in the emergency department, which is really huge as it contains four waiting areas and twenty rooms that are designated to four team. She has worked in all four of them but in team two is where she felt an eerie presence. When she’s in team two she feels if as someone is there looking at her or watching her and believes that it’s someone hanging around in their afterlife (Smith).

                Another experience someone has had is Psychic Ashlyn, and she talks about her experience of paranormal activity and the things she sees at night when she goes to sleep. She mentioned that it started one day as, she was walking from the kitchen into the dining room when she felt a cold chill as she walked into the room, and saw a white figure pasts by her. She felt dazed and tired and went to her mom room and told her what had happened and what she felt, but her mom didn’t believe her. That same day but at night, she was in the computer room when she saw a black figure of a man walking in the kitchen. The next day her mom heard someone whistling and humming and a girl giggling, and is the only experience she had. Psychic Ashlyn mentioned that all the activity was mostly experienced by her. Another experience she had was when she was five years old. She bought a lamp in the shape of a star and plugged it in. The fifth night she the lamp she had felt someone whisper in her ear and say “wake up”. She woke up and looked around. She saw that her lamp was melting and she feels that someone or something saved her from a possible fire in her house (Ashlyn).

BACKGROUND

Paranormal Activity is a supernatural horror film that was written by Oren Phil. The first part of paranormal activity, actors Katie and Micah a young couple move into a two story house in San Diego, California. Katie claims that ghosts have been following her since childhood, and has followed her to their new home. Micah’s intension is that every night he will mount a camera in their bedroom and will try to find out if there’s a ghost actually following Katie. The first day they hear nothing but foot step and noises but as the days pass every night it starts getting worse and worse, which provokes Katie to hire a psychic name Dr. Fredrichs. His answer was that she’s not being followed by a ghost but by a demon, and that they should not have any communication what so ever with the demon. Micah doesn’t take it seriously and doesn’t follow Dr. Fredrichs advice, and start communicating with the demon with a Ouija board, Katie gets upset with Micah and lets him know that it’s not a game and tells him that she wants to leave the home. When they leave, the Ouija board starts moving itself and leaves them with a message. One night Micah sprinkles talcum powder on the hall way floor, when once again they are awakened by noises and see a non-human foot print and get convince and call Dr. Fredrichs back. When Dr. Fredrichs is inside the house he feels that he is not welcome and is making the demon angry, which makes him leave the house. The paranormal starts getting physical and drags Katie out of her bedroom with invisible force. They decide to leave the home but Katie’s response to Micah's that they will be ok.  The next night Katie came out of the bed and stands for couple of hours staring at Micah and then goes down stairs making loud noises causing Micah to go down stairs. As he is trying to talk to Katie, he lets out a cry of pain and the movie ends.

                The second part of Paranormal Activity goes a little bit back, but this time actors Kristin Katie sister and Dan brother in law are in it. Every room is completely trashed accepted Hunter's Katie's nephew's room. They discover that the only thing that was stolen is a necklace that Kristin’s sister, Katie, gave to her. Dan installs cameras throughout the house and including Hunter’s room .Martina is the housekeeper and nanny and tries to keep the bad spirits away. Ali, Dan and Kristin's oldest daughter starts doing some resources and finds out that a human can make a deal with a demon for wealth or power by forfeiting the life of the first born son, which in this case is Hunter.  The violence continues to get worse and worse and the family’s loyal dog a German Sheppard is attack by the demon causing the dog to have a seizure.  Immediately Dan and Ali take the dog to the vet, leaving Kristin and Hunter alone. Kristin notices that the light in Hunter's room is off and as she turns them back on she is dragged down the stairs by the demon. She breaks free but she gets attacked again and is dragged down to the basement where she is there for several hours. The basement door opens and Kristin appears and walks through the living room. The next day, Hunter Ali at home with Kristin, but she will not get up. Ali walks down and looks inside the basement and finds some scratches and notices that there’s a messages that says “mind”. Ali hears some noise and goes up stairs to Hunters room where Kristin is, and she aggressively tells Ali to not touch Hunter. After Ali shows Dan the video he immediately calls Martina, their nanny, to help them out. She prepares a cross that would pass the demon to a relative in the family. Dan thinking on saving his son and wife he does it, which in this case it’s Katie from the first movie. He goes to the basement and find Hunter, his son, and as he try’s to get him he is attacked by Kristin. He touches her with the cross causing her to collapse to the floor everything shakes and inhuman growls and roars are heard. Dan takes Kristin to bed and burns Katie’s picture. On October 9, Katie, already possessed, goes to Kristin and Dan’s house killing Dan and Kristin, and takes Hunter as his crying fades and turns into laughter.

PROPOSAL

What is Paranormal Activity? Do people believe in it? Those are question that I ask myself and I really don’t have an answer for it, but that’s the reason I am eager on definding, exploring and getting more information on paranormal activity. The reason I chose this topic is because I’m a person that does believe in good and bad and watched the past two paranormal activity movie and question if it’s true or not.  I would like to define paranormal activity as a phenomenon or an experience that is beyond or unexplained by conventional theories of science meaning in other words ghosts, reincarnation spirits or soul after death, precognition knowledge of future event or situation, and clairvoyance transfer information that is both contemporary to, and hidden from. In my opinion, going back from the two movies I watched, I can tell you that there are spirits or ghosts that can be good or bad; there is a soul that for some reason they don’t rest because they are looking for something they left behind or because they are looking to harm other people. I believe that paranormal activity is somewhat comparable to a ghost haunting, and bad spirits are something I will consider real in the film series but the rest is something I would have to see, to believe.
